CST 300 Week 4
Part One: My Educational Goals
I want to merge advanced machine learning and neurology using my skills in both software engineering and medicine. I will spend the next two years at CSUMB studying software design, data analysis, and machine learning. At the same time, I will work on pre-med requirements at Clovis Community College while volunteering at my local hospital and observing doctors in their practice. This will prepare me to apply successfully into medical school by 2026 where I can continue working towards my aspiration of improving healthcare with technology.
Part Two: My Career Goals
I want to be a well-known neurologist who focuses on using machine learning and brain-computer interface technologies for the betterment of neurology. I hope to create new treatments that will greatly improve the way we care for patients and their outcomes. When I finish my computer science and medical training, I would like to do medical research in partnership with leading health technology firms such as Google DeepMind and Neuralink. What I am aiming at is contributing towards state-of-the-art developments in healthcare technology while also engaging advanced computational methods into clinical practices which are currently being transformed. This will not only help me grow but also enable me impact significantly on neuroscience field since it is my career path of interest.
Part Three: My guess of the percentile of the ETS Computer Science test
I’m feeling good about taking it in a year and a half after looking at the ETS page, the test description, and sample tests. I took relevant lower division courses, so I have a strong foundation in discrete structures and have worked to improve these skills outside of school. For programming, I’ve been a software developer for 2 years now, so I am experienced with languages such as Java and JavaScript. My practical knowledge comes from building complex enterprise applications which gives me an edge over other candidates who may only know theory or have limited exposure working on small projects. Also, my algorithm skills are pretty sharp thanks to all those LeetCode problems. However, systems architecture is one area where I could definitely use some more study time along with anything else listed under Other.
Part Four: My week
In my opinion, this module was enlightening and full of useful skills. It mainly taught me how we can set career goals in proper way as well educational also. Besides that, I got to know about ETS which is a standardized test that assesses how well-rounded a computer science student’s education is. The writing lab was very helpful because we were able to look at different types of claims for stakeholders like fact, value, policy , and definition; also it helped us identify biases in arguments which will make our next paper better. Moreover, I enjoyed doing the activity where we had to analyze an ethical dilemma using different ethical frameworks to justify multiple positions. At last but not least team assignment was great since it focused on celebrating achievements learning new skills and team building efforts.
Mohamed, your educational goals are fantastic and inspiring. You have very important goals and they are going to push you toward your future career. I would like to see some smaller goals that you can check off on your way to these larger goals just you can track your progress. The same is true for your career goals, although they are important and great goals some smaller ones on the way to the larger ones would help you track your progress.
